2022.01.27 12:09 GradSkoolProfsRMemes Can I get perspective on instructors overloading students?
Is this some "welcome to the real world" bullshit?
I'm talking about the age-old trend of instructors assigning stuff left right and center as if their class is the only one I'm taking.
This shit's followed me since middle school, and grad school isn't any different.
I hate it when they say, "We have a busy quarter ahead!"
Oh fuck. Here we go again. Wtf does that mean? Are these instructors insecure? Does assigning more work make them feel important?
But it happens so often it makes me wonder...
Am I the idiot?!
Is there some kind of advantage to burdening students like this? Keeping us busy... is good somehow?
idk maybe I'm losing it.

2022.01.27 12:09 _someone_special_ “Help Request”: what’s this?
I got an odd message from Etsy for an order. It’s a “Help Request.” I just replied thinking it was a change to regular Etsy Conversations. There’s no problem, the customer just had a simple question. Do help requests count against shops (assuming if it’s replied to/handled)?

2022.01.27 12:09 BrilliantCashew Are there any good videos/streams of people coding Python in VS Code?
I'm a Python coder. I recently switched from Jupyter to VS Code......and I feel like I'm not using VS Code the right way (it currently takes me a lot longer to write code in VS Code vs. Jupyter).
I'm looking for a demonstration of how to write Python in VS Code by someone who knows what they're doing.
When I search "python vs code", it's mostly instructions on how to set up VS Code and what all of VS Code's features do. I have a decent understanding of that stuff.......but I'm not sure what coding Python in VS Code actually looks like in action? And especially: what does it look like when it's an advanced Python coder using VS Code?

2022.01.27 12:09 UsefulRecord2676 Why does the NHS occupy such a prominent position in British culture?
Britain's National Health Service is, in world terms, one of the best healthcare systems in the world, however in European terms it is decidedly mid-ranked, coming between Estonia and Slovenia in the 2018 Euro Health Index. In spite of this, the NHS seems occupy quite a reverent position in British culture - it was featured in the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony, any attempt to reform it is a political minefield (The Labour government of two decades ago is often castigated for introducing private elements to the service) politicians often speak of 'our NHS'. It seems to carry a disproportionate prestige in comparison with other European healthcare systems, even those which have consistently better outcomes.
Is there any particular reason for this? Is there any literature you would recommend on the seemingly sacrosanct position of the NHS? If this is not the case, in what way have citizens of other European countries formed similar emotional attachments to different models?
I assume this is either something that's been extensively investigated or, it will turn out, I'm deluded for thinking that Britain has any unique attachment to its healthcare system. I was rather dubious on precisely what subreddit to post this in, here or /AskSocialScience, but I decided to do both on the basis that the NHS has been around for the better part of a century and it's possible, I thought, that the NHS mythos might have some connection to the end of the last World War or anything that's happened in the intervening decades.

I’m 5’8/160 lbs and likely planning on going with the M/L versus the XL/XXL. I’m looking for more of a cropped look, and not sure if one is better than the other for that or if there are any significant difference? TIA!

2022.01.27 12:09 Houstons-Problem Universal Credit compliance interview
I had a compliance interview because they believe I have money from an old ISA still (I don't because it went towards a house deposit).
They've requested I provide evidence of the house purchase, as well as my current account statements.
Looking back at my statements I've realised that with money coming in from my old job we had over the £6000 threshold and I think I said we had slightly under. For the first month of UC we recieved £0 because of my earnings from previous employment. I've made a mistake here but I'm worried I'm going to get accused of taking advantage/benefit fraud now so I don't know what to do.
I don't know whether to send in my bank statements of not, or just evidence that I bought my house prior to claiming UC. Will they just recalculate what I need to pay back or am I in serious trouble here?
